Beautiful New Floors

I did a thing...
After looking endlessly at wood floor samples, we finally agreed on a sort of distressed barn-wood.. but not the typical stuff. Anyway, the flooring was on sale for a smoking price, but my husband wasnt biting the bullet and buying it. So, I did the measurements for all the rooms we planned on doing the new flooring in, plus one additional room that we had yet to agree on. Plus I planned for 10% extra for error and cuts. It was roughly 1200 sqft when all was said and done.
I consulted my stepdad handyman extraordinaire on my measurements and contingency and he said it sounded good. I left my work early and went into the flooring store and ordered the flooring.

You see me and my husband have separate accounts. He makes quite a bit more money than I do. So his account (primary) pays all the bills. My account, is basically my money to do as I please. I dont make a whole lot but a decent amount. Mainly I love my job and the flexibility is priceless so I dont complain.
That being said I paid for the flooring out of my account. I was a tad tired of the indecisiveness and wanted to ensure
(The before... yucky honey brown Pergo)
we 1. got the flooring I wanted and 2. got it on sale.
In addition to that, I had also asked my stepdad to install the flooring in the dining room and kitchen. Those were the two rooms that we really had not discussed on doing. However the upstairs would have different flooring and that was unacceptable. So, I did it.
My husband works hard and is amazing.. I wanted to do something for the house to take the stress off of him and just show him how much I appreciate him. So.. I bought the flooring and having papa install it.
I had it all planned out. The flooring would come in, and we would arrange a day to install the flooring. But my stepdad will also pick it up and hide the flooring until the install. The big day came when the flooring was in and just as planned we picked it up. We planned for the next day to do the install. So I took the day off and prepared for my stepdad to arrive in the morning after the kids left to school.
This man is a machine, but sure enough he installed the dining room and kitchen basically on his own. I was there to help and the plan was that I would... but ultimately he was faster without me. My job was to keep him fed! That I can do!
He wrapped it up just as Phil text me to say he was on his way home. We cleaned up, replaced furniture and he scooted. My husband hates it when people help... he appreciates it, but ultimately is not good at letting people help him. Dave was afraid that Phil would be upset with him, because he didnt talk to him first... so he boogies out the driveway just moments before Phill got home.
It took him a few minutes to notice but when he did... he was happy! We had not planned on doing those rooms and the fact the flooring was purchased, the remainder in the garage, two rooms down, and it looked amazing - He was happy!
I love love love new floors!

Just need to finish the trim!
