The Thing About Selling Your House

So....

I dont know about you, but neither in adulthood or childhood have I ever lived in a brand new home. My parents were masters of getting a home that was rough around the edges.. spit polishing it a bit and making a profit and moving on.

That has somewhat made me slightly nomadic. My husband moved into his family home at like 5 years old. His dad still lives there. Until about 10 years ago, nothing had been updated really. No offense to my wonderful father in law, but he is not known for completely projects. In fact the new flooring was put and I believe purchased by my sister in law and her husband. Same with updated paint colors. Suffice to say... my husband grew up with little to no change. I of course always had change and like change.

We bought our first and only house back in January of 2004. It was the biggest house in the best location for what our budget was.. but it needed work. It appears someone had updated it back in say perhaps the lovely 70's. Needless to say as a tri-level with lots of mirrors and awful sconces all around it needed work.

(just some updates... long awaited)

Mind you when we bought the house I was like 23 and he was however old he was.. 28 maybe? Yeah, I am a shit wife.. I never remember his age and I always forget our anniversary. There. Anyway.. he was older than me, lol. We were young and didnt have an ample budget to fix things up. So we would do what we could with that we had knowing that maybe later we would update again. Anything was better than what was there.

I always had big dreams for the house, and in reality I wish I would have documented the progress.. but I guess I never saw the reason to photograph something so ugly. Either way, I wish I would have.

So here we are in the midst of finishing all those once started projects, and making changes and updates to our home that we wish we would have done much sooner so we could have enjoyed them.. rather than now simply to sell.

This is the story of my life...
