Tis the season to be jolly....
Christmas time, is a time of joy, love and giving. As much as I love my family, I LOVE giving... the holidays tend to give me a great deal of anxiety.
Part of this is because I have OCD. That means wrapping presents and decorating can give me a great deal of anxiety. I am trying to relax, but OCD isnt really condusive for that.
In particular, wrapping gives me a great deal of stress. No one else is allowed to wrap presents in my house. (note OCD Wrapping post) For one, they need to all match and have balance, and for two.. I will not allow any subpar wrapping. However, that being said.. I am not perfect.
(This is what I consider to be a poor wrapping job)

The tree is another point of contention. No one is allowed to decorate it, but me. I have children, so you can see how this can be a problem. So each year they have their own tree that they can make a mess out of. While I have my tree. This is the first year I didnt go all out on my tree. I tried to relax a little. You can be the judge of that... if I relaxed and did not have everything perfectly placed. For me... my tree was a bit of a mess this year.

What do you think?
Next year I am considering more color. Currently we are blue, teal/aqua, silver and white. I love the colors and I have committed myself to them for about 3 years. However, when I was shopping this year, I saw some really pretty purple, pink and green ornaments. It seemed very Mardi Gras and I loved it!
Exploring with more color may help me break free of everything being so balanced and matching. Or at least here is to hoping!
Anyway... the holiday will turn out to be rather jolly and good fun for all!
The boys are very happy, and happy kids makes for happy parents.
